We really encourage students to register and vote at the address you are living at - whether it is a dorm, Greek house, or apartment - while in school. If you have questions about how to vote where you attend school, this is the place to ask.

Actually, students who move frequently are encouraged to keep their instate home address registration and request absentee ballots be sent to their away from home school address. If they are living in a different county than their parents, the parent may even request that the absentee ballot be sent to the student at school on their behalf.

If a student registers at their school address in spring of 2012 and then moves next fall, they will need to update their voter registration in order to vote in the Presidential election - not necessary with absentee ballots!! That said, the most important thing is to register to vote (wherever you consider home!)

The date of the Georgia Presidential Preference Primary has not been announced yet. The Georgia Secretary of State's office has until December to release a date.

Here is a calendar of all the different 2011 elections in Georgia and once the 2012 calendar is set you can find the 2012 election dates as well.

    We agree with Charles (below).

We'd only add that you are much more likely to vote in the place that you live. And that probably means you should vote in your college town.

Local election officials cannot treat students differently than they treat any other citizen when it comes to voting. (That’s in the U.S. Constitution, baby!)

You cannot vote in two places -- like at your parent’s house and at school -- but if you consider your dorm or address at school your residence, you should register to vote there.

And like Charles said: get your friends registered and voting too.

Yes, you can leave your home address on your license.

    Hope that helps.

    You have two options:

    1. Vote in your home town/state.
    2. Vote in your college town/state.

You just need to register in the appropriate place... on time! Which is soon.

You can use The Rock The Vote registration button on the right to register right now from here in either place.

It's great that you are voting. Get your friends to vote too. It's really easy if they come here and just click that little button.

    Thanks

I assume you mean you are planning to vote in your home town rather than your school town. If that's the case then your official residence is still your home town and you can leave it as it is.

If you are planning to vote in your school state then you will need to register there. You won't need to provide your license if you have another form of ID at the time you register (or first time you vote).

All the details are available at the Secretary of State office... student voting section:

You have the legal right to register and vote at any address that you will have been living in for a state-specific amount of time prior to the election. In every state, if you moved into on-or off-campus housing at the start of the fall semester, you will have been living there for long enough to vote.
